Every quarry has its limitations and surprises. Therefore, over time, the industry has set acceptable standards and tolerances as guide lines for designing and building with stone. Many of these standards have been in place for centuries. Typical tolerances; combined with stone-working techniques of skilled tradesmen; have produced noteworthy projects covering the earth from grand cathedrals to simple back yard spaces.
